Do I need a visa for Ghana?

What vaccinations do I need if travelling to Ghana?
Please consult your GP to check your vaccination history and update those relevant to your trip. Any relevant vaccinations that are not available at your GP surgery can be obtained at any reputable travel clinic. Malaria prevention medication is also advisable for this region.

Will I be safe in Ghana?
Ghana is very safe, however you should exercise the same level of caution as you would at home. Please note that you may experience random police traffic stops, especially at night. The police may ask to see ID, or search your bags or the contents of the vehicle you are travelling in. Do not be alarmed as this is not unusual in Ghana.
How do I get around in Ghana?
Uber is widely available in Central and Greater Accra. It is inexpensive and generally reliable. Select the Comfort option if you require air conditioning. Also booking is more likely to be accepted if you have selected cash as your payment option.

Are there any options available for breakfast?
There is a cafe on site that serves breakfast a la carte. Please note that there are also other restaurants within walking distance of your accommodation that serve breakfast.
Can I drink the tap water in Ghana?
It is not recommended that you drink the tap water in Ghana. Bottled water is widely available and inexpensive.
Do I need to exchange currency for my trip?
The local currency is Ghanaian Cedi . It is not advisable to exchange currency in the UK as exchange is more widely available at banks locally. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted so you can use your debit or credit card, however it is advisable to obtain an international charge free debit card such as Transferwise or Monzo so avoid high bank fees for transactions. Cash can also be drawn from ATM machines using these cards.
What is the weather like in Ghana in March?
March is in the dry season and expected to be 26- 33 degrees. It is advisable you pack sunscreen.
Can I bring my own alcohol to the accommodation?
Yes of course, so please feel free to stock up with duty free on your way to Ghana. However, there are several bars and restaurants nearby.
